Under Armour is an athletic clothing and accessories store. The Under Armour company is a supplier of a wide range of sportswear and casual apparel, but they mainly focus on sportswear for athletes. Under Armour began offering footwear in 2006. Under Amour's headquarters are in Baltimore, Maryland. There are additional offices in Denver, Hong Kong, Toronto, and Guangzhou. Under Armour was founded in 1996 by Kevin Plank. Plank was a former special teams captain of the University of Maryland football team. He began the business in his grandmother's basement. During football practice Plank was annoyed that his T-shirt was always soaked in sweat, but he noticed that his compression shorts never got wet. This inspired him to make moisture wicking synthetic fabric T-shirts. After making this shirt the other major competing brands (Nike, Adidas, and Reebok) soon followed what Plank was doing. By the end of 1996, Under Armour had sold 500 Under Armour HeatGear shirts they made $17,000. then people started to notice the brand and then the Under Armour company grew.
